IMPERFECT GEMS is a gem of a book.

This is the story of a woman who desperately wants children and goes to great lengths to conceive. Bringing her twin baby girls into the world is fraught with difficulty but Anne Marie prevails and they are born. They arrive three months early and at the age of one are diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Doctors offer no encouragement; the prognosis is grim. One advises placing them in an institution and forgetting about them. Others specialists predict they will never walk or be able to use their hands.
But Anne Marie and her husband are strong and resourceful. They immediately educate themselves and enlist expert help. The years of physical therapy, surgery, medical bills, bullying and learning disabilities pass with Anne Marie fighting like a lioness
as the primary advocate for her daughters. Her goal is to raise independent, resilient, good women. And she succeeds.

The book opens with this proud mother watching one daughter march down the aisle as a bride, attended by her twin as maid of honor. They are two beautiful and accomplished brunettes with faces alight thinking of their joy-filled futures. Futures they earned and deserve.
The setting is spectacular and the room is filled with the love of all the family and friends who have watched the girls progress over the years.
